Michels Fixative is a tissue fixative is used for preservation of skin biopsy specimens to be examined by direct immunofluorescent testing for demonstration of tissue-fixed immunoglobulins. Specimens may remain in media for up to 5 days at room temperature. Michels fixative is not suitable for transporting live cells for flow cytometry or to be used for tissues used in fluorescent in situ.
